Barra caught in a billabong at night on a Big Lucifer

Barra caught in a billabong at night on a Big Lucifer

This is the Barra that I caught fishing Corroboree billabong at night.

We were trolling after the sun had set, but apparently the Barramundi didn't get any trouble to see my Big Lucifer in the 008 colour in the darkness of the night, as he crushed it with gusto and after a nice little battle was netted and boated.

Fishing there at night we tried to get it in the boat as quick as we could as we were afraid that a croc would take it from us.

That was great fun.

I already had caught a Barra there on the very same lure the last time that I was there, so I was pretty confident with this lure.

Thanks for making such good lures.

Sea Bug Oyster.

Sea Bug Oyster.

This GT was caught off the bottom at the quarantine bouy in Melville Bay in the NT.  I was expecting some action from small reef fish but when this thing grabbed the jig it nearly pulled Jac out of the boat. It was caught on a Sea Bug Oyster.

The Mighty Ord River

The Mighty Ord River

We travelled down the lower Ord River by boat to a fantastic spot called Collins Creek. Anchoring up just inside the mouth of the creek we started fishing with live baits as the tide began coming in. Not much was happening with a couple of small 50cm Barra taking baits and a couple of solid hits but no hook ups.  After about an hour I changed over to a B52 Silver lure.  On the first cast I hooked a large Barra of almost 90cm and both of us thought it was just a lucky cast given how quiet it was. I cast again after releasing the fish and hooked up again, for the next 3 hours I used the same B52 lure and counted 65 fish caught and released on the one lure ranging from 91cm down to about 50cm. My mate used various lures through this time and only managed 28 Barra and even offered to swap a handful of his lures for my B52.  I stopped fishing when the hooks were so bent out shape and blunt that they wouldn't hold any more fish.
